Ok, are we going to run tomorrow night? If so, my g-friend(yeah that's it), was wondering how safe it is if we get a lot of rain to run those runs?

Other than the rocks being slick, which just means being a little lighter on the skinny pedal or your tires will just spin, lose traction and you can slip around, it is not too bad. Only other concern is amount. I was talking to another member last night, if it rains 1" plus we may have to consider doing the movie only thing, don't want to get caught in a flood. So I hate to say it, but we will have to play it by ear and use our best judgement.
If it only rains a little it just means lining up each obstacle to ensure you get the most traction. Not a big deal at all.

That's what I was thinking. Jeepin on wet doesn't bother me, but Jeepin in a flash flood in a creek probably would.

ROFLMAO
Never seen that amount of water at the WT's, only seen it worse up off Table Mesa. Only time will tell so I think we will have to wait a final decision until Saturday. I think we should still plan it as if it is going to happen, and then make the last minute decision based on what the weather really brings.

I'd like to do a short meet and iron out the plans for the run so we hit the trail all on the same page. Mike said he wont be able to make it tonight, but said he doesnt mind if we skip the moive....and thats not a big deal here, just something i thought was too cool to sit out on a mountian and watch a movie. And that can be done later in the year......
Brad how many people are going to be comming with you?? I think you said that they are in stock Jeeps.
AZG23
03-10-2006, 02:11 PM
I wasnt bringing anyone...I think it was Mike that mentioned he had some friends that had stock Jeeps...?? I know you mentioned you had a bro in law with a stock Liberty..?? Not sure..Im just bringing myself at this point...but had one friend that "might" of made it...but not sure if he got his XJ long arms adjusted and a STL...(it was after you had gone aroubd 4:30)

I have two freinds that want to join us tomarrow night. One of which I will see tonight at the wedding and the other I will be talking to in the morning once I can give him a solid game plan for the night. I will let them know that the BBQ and Movie is most likely cancelled and it will be just a night run. Please post up what is going on so I can inform them of the plans you all make tonight.

can do....
Mike...if its pourin' rain...we wont be able to run....so didja still wanna do the flick and food at yer place like you mentioned..??
Its really gonna be dependant on the weather tomorrow around 5pm....
Someone will post up the plan...
My1stJeep
03-10-2006, 03:18 PM
Excellent idea.
Also Brian and I were talking earlier about bringin tarps, we can attache to the Jeeps to create a canopy.
Plus if we want at the end of TC I can run anyone back that wants to start the BBQ or does not want to run Firebird, then those who want to run Firebird can go back with me and run. We can talk a bit tonight, formulate a general plan and then I think just kinda of go with the flow!!!!
AZG23
03-10-2006, 03:31 PM
I think that sounds good...that way we can still do just the BBQ if weather permits...and be covered...
Ill bring a tarp and some rope as well...we can circle the Jeeps and tarp it up and light the BBQ's...

AZG23
03-10-2006, 08:12 PM
ok...so Brian, Brian and me Brad showed up...pretty much decided we will meet out there...at 7-7:30 pm. I-10 and Watson rd north side of the I-10.
We decided that if its raining too much that hitting TC and Firebird may pose dangerous and we would just run the trail to the powerline trail and out the Northside and hit Mikes place for FoodnFlick....(if this is still ok as a plan B. Mike, let us know)
If its not raining too bad...then we will run Appetizer, Tax Collector and Firebird. There are stock Jeeps going, so if anyone doesnt want to run Firebird a group can be led out to a chosen spot and set up tarp city and once done can start the BBQ's, and we will run Firebird...then return and cook food and grub...hopefully weather permits..
State trust permits are required, if you want to go and dont have one contact Brian (86Renegade) He has an extra. (1st come)
We want a list of those going so we dont have to wait around for someone who was maybe coming...please post if you are attending and Ill compile a list and cell numbers :

Leaving the airdown spot @ 8pm....
Bring some grub and plates/napkins/utensils and drinks. Definitely bring warm clothes and rain gear and drinking water. Since this is pretty much just a SURPRISE/Far west side "meet and greet trail run" and not an all out White tanks trail run, Im not gonna post it up in the trails forum. If you arent in Surprise or far west valley and wanna go...feel free to post up. :) We'd love to have ya, but since its weather dependant...cant guarantee a killer run.
Will be watching the weather and this thread all day long up until 6pm ish...so post if you are going and contact number (if wanted) and will see ya at the airdown spot..(or close to it since it may be mud) :D
Does this sound ok to everyone..??

Well it would appear that the two other vehicles that were going to join us are out. The desert movie and BBQ was what was most interesting to them, Although they also felt it would be too cold to go out tonight and with the rain in the forcast they bailed.
As far a Movie and BBQ at my house, it would appear that our Dog may give birth today and the wife doent want to distract the hound if today is the day. I pretty much thought the whole movie thing was dropped so as to just have a Night run requardless of the rain or temp.
So at this point I guess its just a night run based on what Brad posted.

Well I will try to make it but Dont wait...
I Have been having a horrible time doing my brakes today, earlier when i went to set up my front-end to take off my tires the seal on my craftsman floor jack blew out.. Ok NP i take it back to sears and get a replacement. Get Home at 1:30pm set uo the truck take off the caliper then take my rotors in to have them turned. Im told hour to hour and a half because they are busy. NP i go home help son with home work and go back to pick them up at 4:30 Well it appears the guy who started the job only turned one before he left for the day and the other was just left sitting on the floor. So now I have to go back around 6pm and get the other one. So in short I may not make it after all :( thats the bad news... Good news is they arnt charging me for turning them and gave me a free set of Wiper Blades for the jeep :) I am worjing as fast as I can though Minus this rest break while waiting for them to finish the rotors.

I think so... Least I have pedal back. The calipers were seized up from when I compressed them i guess. Today when inspecting the calipers again I noticed that they were not expanding. So I went and picked up a new set and installed them. I have pedal again although I will need to re-bleed the whole system again once I get time. Once old calipers were out I tryed to get the pistons to move with no luck. So I believe problem fixed.
