I've seen a couple of references to this on different sites. It's supposed to be a 4.0 and located up around Pleasant somewhere. Does anybody have any information about this trail (trip report/pics)? Anyone interested in finding it :D

I know where it's at, as do a few others. In fact, the Rockrats have "adopted" that trail. Russell and I went out there last year to check on the fencing at the lower end of it (where it becomes a riparian area). It's a fun little trail (I'd rate it a 4.5 or better, on the hard lines), but a pain in the butt to get to. They don't call it Lost World for nothing. It takes a couple hours to get to the trail, with a nasty hillclimb thrown in that will turn you around unless you have 2 lockers and a lot of throttle :) When we were there last, we couldn't find any other tire tracks down in the canyon.
Maybe once the rest of the Rockrats get thier junk done (hint, hint), we could set up a run out there, with a few select attendees who would be promptly shot after completing the trail........you know, so they won't tell anyone else where it's at ;) ;)
I couldn't find any pics of it. Maybe Hackle does.

I'm still on 31's. Is this going to be over my head? I'm a good driver and just did the Martinez Canyon Loop a couple weeks ago pretty easily. Great pics by the way! I'm looking to do some tougher trails with my 31's to help hone my line picking skills, so I'm really ready to rock when the bigger rubber goes on.

31"s and low lift would be tough........I was able to jsut make that waterfall on 33's and 6.5".....by the way the spotter and others where placing bets iff Id go over or not on that obstacle......the last cherokee did

Yes, based on the statement that this is a DD, you have no winch, and undersized tires for the terrain.
This trail is rated close to that of Anaconda. Look at your rig. Look at the rigs that run trails like that. Think about it. Your answer will, I hope, be obvious.
Unless maybe you are somehow the spawn of Barry Brummett and Tracy Jordan...I dunno...

A lot of people say Martinez Canyon when they mean Martinez Cabin -- two different trails. This may not apply to you but I have run across this a lot.
The canyon trail is considerably more trail when you take the obsatcles. Most people don't even know some of the obstacles are there.
People in bone stock S10s and FS vehicles do Box Canyon, Martinez Cabin and Martinez Canyon. In other words, I would not consider it much of a yardstick for the more remote trails.
This is old but comes up a lot too. Running a trail (being on it) versus taking all of the obstacles on a trail that give the trail its rating ("running a trail") are two rather different things. Going out on a trail and not running the obstacles kind of misses the point of running a trail, but maybe that's just me.
I presume you're prepared with winch, spare parts, tire patch kit, air and the tools and knowledge required to make trailside reparations.
I am not trying to ruin anyone's fun. Quite the contrary if you think about the suggestions. If you see any sense in the above, use it as you will. If not, disregard and let us know how it shakes out for you.

Actually Barry I thoroughly enjoy your posts. You're a straight shooter who doesn't BS. I do however know the difference between the Canyon and the Cabins. Box Canyon and the Cabins are very scenic but also very boring. We ran the loop that was past the Cabins. And I do mean that I ran the trail. With some spotting I followed my buddy on 35's up all the hard lines and I can garauntee (sp) that no rocks were stacked in the process and no by-passes were taken. I also carry a load of tools, an air compressor, multiple straps, multiple jacks and a patch kit. No I don't have a winch but the guy that I run with does. Now that I'm done defending myself, I'll take your advice and stay home. The reason why I asked in the first place is that the rigs in Woody's photos are way outta my league, but the XJ that XJNation had doesn't appear to be. The only thing that would ruin my fun is a crummy day out on the trail, so thanks again for the honest answers. I'll put this trail on my to-do list for when the rig's a little bigger.

I appreciate you taking my comments in the spirit intended. It sounds like you're on your way in the preparedness area -- good show. Good stuff on following the bigger shod rigs around too.
I am all for testing the limits of ones rig and personal skills and know sometimes that means doing what others say not to do or can't be done. Been there myself, and some days still am there.
No need for more I guess, just to say that Lost World is along the lines of OD, BM and Anaconda and quite a step up from some of the more common trails that have bypasses because they are tighter with fewer options, and usually only one option.
By the way, don't stay home -- go wheelin'!

I actually went through Box Canyon once with a guy with a stock brand new T100 that still had the temporary tag. He went through without damage. He ripped off his front bumper and bashed in his rear corner real bad through Lower Woodpecker but made it without a strap (with a bit of stacking AND UNSTACKING). ;) It was painful, but made it. I unfortunately was in an H2 back when they first came out.
Anyway, carry on now...

Did you get pictures of that one? That's the climb I was tlaking about just to get in.
Kind of like Collateral Damage. You get through the last obstacle and it is ho-hum little stuff through the narrow canyon/wash until you get to the end and have to climb up and out. Not too big of a deal really but not exactly nothing either. It is fairly steep and can be very loose. Lots of rubber on the wall from people climbing out (probably BTG guys impressing the girlz   :D). A friend with us who had not done CD before said "That's the coolest exit to a trail I have seen in a long time.".

Not always, lol, last time I tried that fall I got denied big time, busted a link, airshock, driveshaft, motor mount and radiator:rolleyes: I think I figured out the line now though.
As for upper helldorado, Its still a big fall, most get denied... you just gotta commit and right when you think you should let out, you need to stay in it:D And its not quite 180"... maybe using your "special" tape measure woody:eek:

As far as I know yes. but upper helldo is on Area BFE(private land, owned partly by BFE films), and now there is quite a few trails/ stuff to play on in that area, just make sure you put some $$$ in the donation box. That land wasn't cheap.

Nope, Asylum by far the coolest exit of any trail period, not that Helldorado is bad it just doesn't hold a candle to the fugly fall followed by a 55' vertical with a long loose dirt up hill and an ugly loose dirt down hill for about 3/4 of a mile.

And Bill, whenever you're ready man, we could always use another capable rig out there.

Thanks Scott.

Nope, Asylum by far the coolest exit of any trail period, not that Helldorado is bad it just doesn't hold a candle to the fugly fall followed by a 55' vertical with a long loose dirt up hill and an ugly loose dirt down hill for about 3/4 of a mile.
I agree with Heinz57...
How long has it been since you've run it Barry? Can we still get on it?

That sounds like Asylum here in Az (White Tanks)...just seen pictures...yowsa.

Hanging on a fraid rope is the most mentally challenging thing I have done on any trail. It's gonna hurt real bad if you fall.

All know is that the out to UH is definately alot smaller than when I spotted a Tj through there 4 years ago........Im betting there is atleast 5 feet of rocks and sand piled into the bottom now.

Hell...just winching up the weenie little fall on OD makes me think of stuff like that...can only imagine the Asylum climb. Reminds me...need to stretch heep. :D
I don't want to stir the pot (no, really I don't  ) but I saw the typical smack talking BS on PB one day about a trail worse than Asylum. Is that Hellraiser or Boom Town maybe? You-know-who was saying how they ran it solo. :D  Maybe they did...I don't care one way or the other, and I digress...
I have seen pictures of Hellraiser and that one looks like a real kick. I have not knowingly seen pictures of Boom Town.

PS. I just re-read this and realize it sounds like I am talking badly about a person. That was not my intent. I am leaving the message in its original form.

Have not been on either. I know who found and ran boomtown and if he says it is harder he is correct. After running the some of the newer trails lately I would say Asylum holds its own with the amount of wheeling but there are some trails with fewer but more difficult absticals. At the end of the day as you will agree it is about going out and having a good time. This thread is about ability to run a particular trail and as you and others have stated you need to make sure your rig is capable and most importantly your ability to drive a rig is up to the challenge. If you don't meet those requirements you will most likely not have a good time.

Ran it in October I think, been wheeling too much:confused: I plan on getting back to it asap, probably between TDS and Moab sometime. I know we can get back to that area just not sure about getting to that trail. You up for it?:D

Agreed. It is all about fun for whatever you are driving and whatever trail you choose to run.

It very well may be. The folks here are saying it has about 5' of sand and rocks at the bottom of the exit, that was not there a while back. Certainly if that is the case, your dead on and I am dead wrong.
Guess that is what rock stacking will do for you...

Simmer down, Buttercup! :D
I said "Evidently", and that's ONLY according to the VERY unreliable and sometimes Inflammatory source of Craig Micek!
Truth be told (And you know it's the truth, because I said it...) he's just jealous because he wants to be your Biatch! (Actually, that's a half truth, he wants to be ANYBODY"S Biatch!) :D

I am the club biatch! I think that it is in the bylaws. Something about vp exists only in the shadow of exhualted ruler and for his amusement? Good thing we don't follow them to closely eh... ;) :D
Now if I only had something that ran worth a damn you might invite me on your run. :D

I dunno, looks pretty much the same as in '02, if not even a little less filled in as seen in these pics
I dunno what it looked like before then, but this is definitely upper helldorado.
And yes, Asylum definitely gets the pucker factor going. Especially being first having to rely on a sole winch... I dont think Ill be doing that again soon, at least not until I get some new winchrope:p
see ya on the trails,
Scott
