Hi all,

I'm adding a trailer brake controller to my Unlimited and could use a little help finding a wire. I'm trying to figure out which wire is connected to the cold side of the brake switch. I took a look at the brake pedal and naturally there are several wires coming off the switch. Anyone have a FSM for an '05 or knowledge of which wire to splice into?

Below is cut and pasted from the instructions:

RED Wire (cold side of stoplight switch)
The RED (stoplight) wire must be connected
to the cold side of the brake pedal stoplight
switch. Splice down line from the switch;

For info it is a Prodigy brake controller. Any help is appreciated.

Per the '04 FSM, the +12V coming into your brake lamp switch is on Pink/DarkBlue 18 gauge wire. A White/Tan 18 gauge wire leaves the brake lamp switch and goes to your brake lights.

So your RED wire would be attached to the White/Tan wire (the cold side of the switch).

The same wire colors are used on my '98 TJ so chances are they are the same on yours. :)

Just wanted to post a follow up in case anyone searches for this topic in the future. Armed with Stu's info I took the voltmeter out to the Jeep to confirm the wiring setup.

In the picture wire #5 is the +12V coming in to the switch and wire #6 is the 12V going out (cold side).

Thanks for posting the picture. Although I have a dedicated tow vehicle and will never install a brake controller in the Jeep this info is great to be able to reference in case it's ever needed for something else.
