Coming all that way to run them trails? :p

How are the rigs set up? Have you run these trails before?

Shame it's a Sunday...can't really wheel Sunday's :( ...might come out for a morning session though :D

Ha, ha. Yep, running those trails and turning around to go back home. :D J/K, we'll be out there for 6 days worth of 4-wheeling around the FJ & TM areas. We can't wait to get down there and enjoy some warm weather!

As for the rigs, we'll have two TJs and an older model Bronco. Tire sizes for the group range from 37" to 42". Minimum axle in the group is a front D44 with high strength shafts & CTMs. Dual lockers on all. Reduced t-case gearing on all. Winches on all. One of the TJs is stretched to 109" wheelbase so we send him up the big waterfalls first. :) We haven't run any trails in Arizona before.

A picture of Dale's rig is posted in this thread.

EDIT: My mistake -- the pic was in another thread. Thanks to Matt for posting up the pic here.

Cool...i'll pencil it in then.

See you at 9am...i'll gladly give you a tour of FJ until about 3pm (need to catch at flight)

From the sound of those rigs they need to at least warm up on something easy like Axle Alley and go up from there.

Dale thinks I am leading the way. I intend to just hook a tow strap to the back of her rig and let her drag me through FJ with my feet up on the dash. :D

I'll try to post up pictures of the other two rigs soon...having technical difficulties right now.

Yep, xFallen's leading! No fair making us outta-towners go first. :)

Well, at least OD has a winch point at the top of the big fall. ;)

Unless that fall on OD has changed in the last few weeks, I don't think it is giving it up to short wheelbase rigs. So yeah, pretty sure I'll be needing one. Dale and her crew may not, you don't (or shouldn't).

I haven't heard of short wheelbase rigs driving it -- have you? If so then maybe I will change my tune and make it a goal.

scratch this - I was thinking of BM, not OD :)

I made it at 101" with old 38's.

As long as your about 100" then it's down to tire size...i guessing a true 37-38 will clear it...

It's all in the bump :D

Oh great, Mike's gonna be in a hurry on this run. Like he needs an excuse to use more throttle! ;-) Bloody hell (as he might say)!

Gonna try to be there. Weekend plans come and go, so we'll see what happens. If I can make it, guess I'll be the little YJ (35's, SOA) in the back of the pack.

Brilliant!!

I don't dare take my CJ out again until I replace my front springs or I'm asking for trouble. But, if I don't have babysitting duty, maybe I can ride along and take pics...

Well, I am at 94" and 37"s -- likely won't happen but I will try it for sure.

I'll do it in my 83" wb CJ-5 (with the winch) :)

Actually, if you just park at the bottom I will do it without the winch, so long as you don't mind a few tire tracks on the ole heep there. ;) :D

Not at all. In fact, it will probably make it look better. And vice versa :D

From the sounds of that last waterfall, I'll be winching too. I'm only 94" WB. But I'm bringing along my own winch anchor :D ...the red TJ in this thread is 109" WB so it climbs a whole lot better than mine:
http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=49106.

The Bronco pictured in that thread will be the other rig with us.

Do a lot of the trails have winch anchors installed?

Can't wait to get down there and wheel with you guys and get out of the cold for a week.

Overdose has an axle up top that was "donated" to the cause embedded in the rock.

Bad Medicine is pretty much drivable by any rig that should be on the trail anyway but also has sturdy rocks that make good winch anchors should the need arise.

Winching in Twisted and Annihilator looks like it will take some creativity depending upon where you're at but there are rocks that work fine.

Everything else you're running (Anaconda, H2H and so on) is pretty much drivable unless you break and need tugged out or fall prey to some other oops. :D There's only one fall on H2H that gives my short rig a bit of trouble but that's just because I refuse to go around it on the bypass.

Oh. Woody's will eat your heep in one gulp. Seems like it is getting nastier as it degrades. Narrow track rigs don't do well there. The "bypass" is a gnarly off camber thing that looks as scary (to me) as the actual obstacle. All doable, of course, just funky. No winch point as such but again lots of large rocks.

Mike, been on it lately? I have been on it twice in the last month or two. The first obstacle was substantially different each time.

Oh yeah. Early trip home. Bummer.

OD/BM is a good combo.

Is it cool to run from the entrance of OD to the BM trailhead via the Box Canyon Rd? The whole thing is listed as a "road" or "trail" (snicker...kills me) but the fewtimes I have ran it we always came into BM from the other trails and did not enter via Box Canyon Rd except for very short distance. It is easier to see on a map.

Either way, no matter. Easy to get to the trail heads.
