Does any body know of a route to Gillette from Black Canyon City without going all the way to Table Mesa Rd.? It looks like you should be able to get there but I can't find a trail on any of my maps.
Thanks,
HABAZ

Take the Pipeline Trail from south from Black Canyon City. After the crossing under the Southbound I-17 lanes, just head west following Moore Gulch or other trails to the Agua Fria then north to Gillette on the west side of the river. That's my suggestion.
How about following the river itself?

A while back, I took a trail that originates behind the old dog race track in Black Canyon City, goes up the hill to the west (I think I actually had to go up someones driveway, past their carport and backyard and up a steep hill), meanders around in the foothills for a ways (there are some old mine sites ruins thereabouts I explored), then heads south (parallel to I-17), coming into the TM area from the north. It passes right by the working Arco (sp?) mine.
Fun trail.
