The Moab Easter Jeep Safari is quickly approaching!!! The dates for this year’s event are April 8th to April 16th. Trust me, Moab is why you wheel! I’ve been there twice within the last year and can’t wait to get back for a third time!

This is an informational post for anyone wanting to make the trip to Moab. The event is hosted by the Red Rock 4 Wheelers (RR4W). They have been doing this for 40 years and it shows. The event is well coordinated and enjoyable for all level of 4 Wheelers. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone wanting to make their first trip to Moab. I went with a passenger last year and had the time of my life. Don’t be intimidated by the registration or lottery process.

Here is what needs to be done.
1. Mail a request to the RR4Ws requesting info on the Jeep Safari. Link Below
2. Make hotel or camping reservations
3. Research trails and determine what your rig is set up for.
4. Fill out information packet you received from RR4W and mail in. There will be a date for the lottery…probably in early March.
5. Await trail itinerary
6. Leave for Moab and Wheel!!!!

Info you need to know.
1. It’s easier to make reservations and get your 1st choice trails early in the event.
2. Friday night, April 14th is the raffle at the Spanish Trail Arena.
3. Saturday, April 15th is Super Saturday. All trails leave from downtown Moab.
4. This event is open to all types of 4X4s. Jeep, Toyota, Suzuki, etc.
5. Beer is awful in Utah, bring your own.

I will be in Moab from April 10th to the 16th. I plan on leading a private group on the Poison Spider, Golden Spike and Gold Bar Rim Trails on one day of the event. The day will be determined by available trails.

X2 on that.
Were going the week from the 1st till the 9th. Cheaper hotels and better wheelin. I've been a couple of times at easter jeep. Never again.
Right now we have 7 rigs going. All from the N.W. and me and the wife from here.

The JU trip is May 6th - 13th. I plan to make that one finally.

I would love to see a AZVJC group trip at some point though.

Actually it seems most are the old timers from back when the site kicked arse that are going. :D

Might wanna ask Stu if he's old enough to drive, he's been to every one of the JU Moab runs so far. ;)

Whats the best route to take towing my jeep from Chandler.
Yahoo and Mapquest has me going.
Take ramp onto AZ-101-LOOP NORTH - go 36.3 mi
10. Take exit #23C-B onto I-17 NORTH toward FLAGSTAFF - go 125.2 mi
11. Take exit #340A onto I-40 EAST toward ALBUQUERQUE/WINSLOW - go 5.5 mi
12. Take the PAGE/GRAND CANYON exit toward COUNTRY CLUB DR - go 0.3 mi
13. Turn on COUNTRY CLUB DR - go 0.4 mi
14. Take ramp onto US-89 - go 62.2 mi
15. Turn on NAVAJO TRL[US-160] - go 46.5 mi
16. Continue to follow US-160 - go 79.0 mi
17. Turn on US-191 - go 30.9 mi
18. US-191 becomes MAIN ST[S US-191] - go 0.3 mi
19. Continue to follow US-191 - go 99.8 mi
20. Turn on E CENTER ST - go 0.1 mi
21. Turn on S 100 E - go < 0.1 mi
22. Arrive at the center of MOAB, UT

Pretty funny. Yahoo has me getting there in 7 hrs. and 32 minutes. An 1hr. and 15 minutes before mapquest. Same directions.

we will probable show up for the AJUMR again this year, and I dont recall many "Kids" there, at least not with the bunch I run with. I think most of the thrill seekers go for the EJS.

I edited it.

I received my Easter Jeep Safari Newsletter last night. There is a new trail on the list called Hotel Rock. It's rated 4.0 and it's 90 miles south of Moab. Has anyone heard of this trail and if so, is it worth it?

Also, what was the outcome of the vote from a few months ago on land use in Moab? I never heard anything about it afterwards.

For everyone that wants to avoid Moab during the Jeep Safari, I am going to plan another run for the fall. Probably sometime in late September or early October. If I hear some interest from the club, I'll set everything up for us. I live for this!!!

A few of us will be there the first week of October anyway, that is the NAXJA fall fling 7th annual I believe...woody shoud be there, Ali and I will be there, and usually a few others from AZ. and even though you dont have an XJ, other jeeps always tag along on trip and are more than welcome.
