This is the time of year when guides get to play--we have about 5 weeks of relatively quiet business until season takes off in mid-Feb. I am itching to get out on some different trails in the "lower" desert (yes, we are "higher" in Sedona :D )

Anyone want to run this Sunday 1/8? Something easy to moderate and scenic? NOT in Sedona? (Please).

I the Great Western Trail from Jerome to Cave Creek. I will have to check on the status of some of those roads--may have some closures from the fire.

I have also been looking at Alamo Lake--anyone been there? There appear to be a number of mines in the hills above it, too...

Any other ideas? Have topo, will travel...

Yea, come visit with Gary and I and whoever else wants to go.

So far I'm still a go but I have just come home from work early cause I'm fuggin' sick as a dog.... I did just buy about 70 bucks worth of drugs and various other get better items so hopefully I can kill this off within today or 1/2 through tomorrow the latest.

Something on Sunday is sounding good to me. The Jerome or Alamo idea sounds fun.

I won't fly sick and if I'm not better by next Monday I'm calling out again. The only reason I did this AM was to come back to PHX from El Paso. There's a clause in the contract that says that if I call out sidk in an outstation, I need to stay there for 24 hours. Now if it was a cool place, I might not have minded but El Paso...

I'd like to get out on Sunday.

Both the Great Western Trail from Jerome to Cave Creek and Alamo Lake sound interesting. Is there info posted somewhere I could read up on?

How are these trails rated?

Don't know. That's the fun of it! :D From the portions I have seen, they look pretty easy--moderate at best.

Thom--Sunflower Mine has been on my list. When and Where? ;)

Nena, you should run Powerline trail. It is very scenic. See what "Desert Dawgs" always run. Sunflower is a nice run, well suited for the mildly improved Jeep. Very beautiful views from the top after the mine.

Can a stock Rubi do the whole sunflower loop?

I've been and gone to the mine...I know the 2nd 1/2 is much more challenging.

I ran it when my Unlimited Rubi was stock and it did just fine. There are are a few spots where you will bang and scrape. But that's to be expected when you're stock.

I'd be interested in a Sunflower trip on Sunday.

Sunflower on Sunday sounds great! Thom, do you want to lead? Or anyone else? I don't mind leading with the directions from Wells, but I have not been there before, so I would be more of an "instigator" (Lance-- ;) :D )

Where would be a good meet spot? I am coming from the north, so not too early--maybe 9 or 10 AM somewhere?

Call me (928) 274-0570.

I missed this because I had to go to a wedding. There are trails everywhere down here and this is the time of year to do them. Gets a little interesting close to the boader.
