It was a long day, but it was also a great day. Thanks a lot to Unstuck (Josh) for setting this run up. I've never been out to this part of town so not only was it a good day of wheelin' but I got to see some place new. I guess I'm just easily entertained. We started with 11 Jeeps and finished with 9. One of the CJ's had a problem when a motor mount decided to break causing the fan to chew up the radiator. Unfortunately that ended their day early, but the rest of us were able to charge ahead. Our first stop was the coke ovens followed by lunch at the Martinez cabins. Then around the mine loop and finally exiting out box canyon. Enjoy the pictures:

After the Baja 500 start and lots of dust we needed to hit the Jeep wash

These pictures don't do the scenery justice. It is beautiful out there.

This was one of the most scenic parts of the trail. You've got to see it to appreciate it.

If you're going to get stuck, might as well do it some place with a nice view.

It was a great day. I think everyone had a great time. I have read lots of discussion on these boards about the flow of the river and have yet to see the ford we took too high to cross. We crossed it in Feb after the big rains and three or four times since then. This ford is about 1/2 mile down river from the traditional Cochran ford. The Cochran ford has steep banks and is not always easy to cross, but this crossing is shallow, wide, and easy to cross (at least most of the time).

I took a lot of great pictures and will post them later.

Thanks to all who went for a great day!

I've been out to that area/spot more than I can count over years and years...and I can't ever remember it being dry.

Now a real site to see is wheelin' through Box Canyon with a foot of water.:)

Thanks everyone for coming out there with us. It was a great day(for most of us anyway. I've never seen a radiator empty its self so fast before. That's an "$8000 fix"). I still want to run up Ajax, so keep an eye out for that run. So who has pictures of the best line of the day, or was that the best whoops of the day. Nothing a winch and strap cant handle. See you guys on the trail.

Great pics. I am looking forward to Martinez Canyon, it looks like a blast. Hey Jim, how come every time you go out with the club someone breaks down? Can you say jinx! :p :D

You cut me deep Kevin, you cut me deep. But it's cool I know you're just kidding. Hey when you broke down on the trail who was it that drove you all over town looking for parts? I can't remember but I think that same guy drove you all the way home too:p :D

You'll definitely enjoy Martinez. There are a few spots you've got to be careful on, but the scenery is outstanding.

Yes, you were a great help and I really appreciated you driving me home to the opposite side of the world. And of course you know where I live now so I probably shouldn't make wisecracks like that about you anymore. :)

It's all good, I can take the ribbing :D By the way, the lock on your back gate is loose. You may want to get that fixed. :p
