Yep, late in the day. Just didn't know when the wheeling was going on. I could bump the time up a little bit if you wanted as I realized I don't actually work on Monday. I'm always the last to know. You and I talked about 5-5:30 but now I can do it anytime. We can keep the 5-5:30 so you can go wheeling... I just need to make sure I get to Grady's by 7:00 or so (although if you wanted to do it earlier I believe I can hit grady's as early as 3:00 as I believe that's when he gets home). Regardless 5-5:30 still works for me... so I'll release the hi-jack of the thread back. :D I'll give you a call later.

I am seeing 7-8 potential rigs showing interest from this thread. That doesn't include the ones that will just show. I guess it doesn't include attrition either.

I suggest we'll be hard pressed to get that many rigs through 4 trails (plus Murphy since you KNOW that mofo will show up) and be home before midnight. Ya know...just sayin'.... be prepared is all.

So if stockers are welcome, does that mean that there are harder lines to take with easier ones next to them? I have never ran any of these trails, and am considering "tagging along" but I want to know what that means.

I wouldn't consider these trails as "Stocker" material. Might want to look at the old site at the trails listings:Judgement Day, Upper and Lower Terminator, Upper and Lower Raw Deal, Table Mesa area trails, Collateral Damage, etc. You could tag along with someone else to watch the carnage though.:D

Lower Raw Deal can be done by a stocker with a little help and the right line...

The rest.. well.. ummmmm....

LKD TJ
01-01-2006, 07:13 PM
These trails are not for the faint of heart. The only trail that we will run that is doable for stock setup would be Raw Deal. It is a great area to wheel and you are more than welcome to sit shotgun with myself or I am sure there are a couple of other open seats but there will be carnage if you are not on at least 33's and not completely open diffs.

Oh yeah and by the way..... Rachel and I will be there

Hi as I posted originally these trails are NOT for Stockers, I didnt want to offend anyone, and you are more than welcome to come and watch and Im sure there will be plenty of Shotgun seats available. We will run Raw deal just as a shakedown for a couple of rigs that have done major mods, and havent wheeled em yet. After that it gets fun.

I don't know that I would say lower terminator is all that hard:cool:
raw deal is for bunny's (even though I broke their) it's still for bunnys, lower terminator is a good learning trail, but nothing that "hardcore" Mike ran it in his tj open front and rear with 3.07's that night jeff flopped it can't be that hardcore

Agreed on the Terminator. That is a 20 minute trail these days that will take a lot of hours if there's too many rigs.

JD is an okay warm up. Predator would be cool, as would CD. I can break my junk on CD pretty easy I bet. :D

It was very nice to meet some new face and hopefully new friends. Of course it was good to wheel with the familiar faces too.

Sorry about the carnage for those whose ticket was punched today by the wheeling deities. It happens to us all.

I really want to run Predator so we'll have to get out and do that one next time.

Oh yeah. I have a grudge against the left hand side on the notch. I am quite sure I could have made it up but felt like we as a group needed to be getting back and I didn't want to hold us up by additional attempts and risking breakage.

I usually take lots of pictures. This trip I did not even break out the camera. I am really looking forward to seeing tons of pics and video. :D

The left side is very doable. The shorter lifts tend to have an advantage with the lower COG and less frontend unloading. This is not an obstacle to run with unseated coils on a tall lift. Don't ask how I know.

Yeah, definitely doable. There were a few attempts where I could feel it climbing nicely.

I actually only had one issue with the passenger side coil today and that problem will go away as soon as I get the bottom clip installed. The top bump stops I installed allow the spring to move but force it back to the correct location. Gobs of flex without the springs falling out. The limit straps at the center preclude full unloading.

I have more flex than clearance but am happy with the way the rig is working for now. A few little things left for this round.

What PSI did you run the IROKs at and were they noticeably grippier in certain situations? I'm sure the sidewalls will take some breaking in but was curious.

9 PSI. Stuck to everything that my MTR's have slipped off of for the last two years and the sidewalls are very flexible already. I wadded them up plenty today.
I could probably run them as low as 7 PSI without beadlocks.

Speaking of suspension, the front bushings for the RK rear UCA seemed to hold up Nick. I know this was just one trip, but things are looking up. The old rubber ones wore out just driving down the road. Maybe this combination is the winner. The RK LA suspension worked great.

I did not get to see your rig in action unfortunately. I would expect it would be broken in though now, yeah. ;)

Jeff, throw money at your Jeep, It'll love you back, I promise...

(The tricky part is knowing how MUCH money to throw, 'cause like some women, if you don't throw enough, it'll just get pissed off ...)

It was great meeting and wheeling with all of you. TJ had fun too!

Bill, it was nice meeting you and I wanted also say nice rig. Only one that made it up the left at the notch :D

What a way to start out the year, nice day, fun trail and great people. I had a great time. as always the group was very helpful in helping everyone get through the trail. I personally learned alot. I am still learning what my rig will do. I was pleased with its performance, not bad for being built in the carport and off of the tail gate of my truck. That is Red Neck. Jeff not a problem in helping out, it was my pleasure. It was great to wheel with everybody.
The day ended with a bang also, on the way back I received a phone call from my wife telling me that someone had just did a drive by on our house and shot a single bullet through the front window. She was upset but other wise ok. The cops found the bullet in our hall closet, it just missed our new tv by 10" What a way to start out the year.
Again thanks for the great day.

Nice pictures Roy. I also had a great time wheeling with every one. Wheeling with new faces and jeeps is always great. I have to say I like the way you guys handled the breakage. Great attitudes and trail clean up was impressive. Most people I have wheeled with leave their mess. Hope to see you guys on the trail soon.

My wife gets jealous when I throw to much at the jeep. At least this one wasnt that expensive! Just gives me a reason. to upgrade again!!

Dude, you have no IDEA how many times I went over my reply deleting, rewriting, etc. trying to make sure I didn't offend, I mean, I hardly know the guy and I'm trying to make a slightly off color remark about his wife and his Jeep for the sake of humor and levity (GEEZ, only Bill Mish would do that).

Jeff's not allowed to break next time out so I can get to know him better. He spent so much time wrenching and spotting, I really didn't talk to him much.

And after a break like Jeff had on JD, I go and kick him square in the Jimmy on the board.. :o

If you need a hand wrenching, or just a distracting drunk guy hanging out giving you bad advice, let me know...(If you doubt my credentials, ask 1Eagle He'll testify to my certifications as a genuine pain in the Buttocks.)

Rachel, my girlfirend, was the one driving the green TJ that made it up the center line on the first waterfall. I am afraid if she drives my junk she will out wheel me and then I really will never hear the end of it. Truthfully and shamelessly.

I may take you up and on the help wrenching but right now I just have to get the parts ordered and in. Then I need a good machinist to do the comp cut and it shouldn't be too tough after that.

After the project is done then I will buy a handle of tequila and we will go and run JD and Predator and celebrate.

Look forward to seeing you back out there again.

Cool. I will be there. I will PM you my cell number in case we need to exchange details.

My preference would be to keep the run somewhat intimate with rigs that have a reasonable chance of making it through under their own steam. :D Maybe 5-6 somewhat built rigs. We could do it and maybe have time to head over to CD or Anaconda if that were the case.

Maybe we should we start a new thread?

Oops, sorry about the marriage assumption. :o
If she out wheels you, she gets the bragging rights, what do you care, especially if you got to build your Jeep and hers?

I think she'll out wheel most of us if you put her in a rig. Most Wimmins will, we think they are just sitting there looking pretty next to us, but they pay attention, follow directions, and are pretty intuitive. Hell, I'd let her drive mine through Predator if I thought she could reach the pedals...:D Of course, you could sit next to her, but I get to spot if she needs it and I need a BIATCH seat, preferrably in the rig just ahead of her. (All these RULES!!)

OR... A simpler solution, you let her drive your rig, I'll let you drive my rig, if she still outwheels you (Ya, right) you got it coming!

Eloquently put. If she out wheels me then I might just have to sell my Heep and buy a scooter. And no offense taken about the marriage thing, it was insinuated in the previous post and we act like it anyway. :D :D
Yeah, she is a good driver and I have no problem admitting it. I just like being able to go out there and enjoy her company along with all the other friends I have mad e and will make out on the trail.
As I said, I will be done in a couple weeks and I will be up for a run and hopefully we can get a couple of trails in after a quick shakedown.

Protect him? Naw...He can protect himself.

My point was more to not wail through there unless your stuff is water tight. Mine sure isn't. I crossed there one time (like this one time, in band camp) when the water was quite a bit higher than it was on Monday (up to the sills on the tub) and my check engine light stayed on for two days.

The other thing I have seen is people stopping and backing up or parking while submerged in the water without vent tubes on their axles, or getting in so deep the tranny and xfer cases are submerged then parking. Not cool. No positive pressure, water comes in.

I did that to my poor '84 Toyota way back before I knew any better. The axles had caps on the axle vents but no remote vent lines like on a TJ.
