I’m ready to do a Tummy Tuck. I bent the crap out of my stock T-case skid last weekend and had to drive my 1 ton van over it to reshape.
I have the JKS 1” MML plus 1.25 BL. Got the SYE, adjustable upper rear CA’s and Tom Woods driveshaft installed. I had TW leave room for the Tummy tuck when they built the CV shaft. I’m leaning towards of the Nthdegree but had heard there are a number of issues with fit on the maximum clearance installation. I’m not afraid of a little work and I do want to most benefit but don’t want to re-engineer the body pan to fit the Tummy Tuck.
Does anyone have experience the Nthdegree installation? From the pictures on there web site the auto tranny pan is low, should I get the auto tranny skid at the same time?
How about other manufacturers? I like the 33rd engineering design but it looks to me to be weak in the 3/16 skid plate.
Any ideas where to get the best deal?

Grab the Nth Degree and don't look back. It's sweet and it's heavy duty. SavageSun runs one along with another wheeling friend of mine. I first saw it in Moab at the manufacturers display area. I was impressed then and I'm impressed now. The 33 Engineering skid is nice as well. 33 Engineering can get away with 3/16th's plate because it uses a seperate crossmember for the transfer case mount.
The extra thickness of some skids are'nt worth a hill of beans due to their poor design. My old skid was 1/4" thick and bent farely easy due to a lack of reinforcement from the manufacturer. Keep in mind that anything can be bent or broken in this sport. Sometimes you actually do get what you pay for. ;)

Do you buy direct, or is there a less costly outlet?

I'm not familiar with any of the local 4x4 shops carrying Nth Degree. I know Nick at Performance Off Road had posted asking for our opinions on him carrying the skid plate line. Not sure if he has decided to do so or not.

http://www.tntcustoms.com/ I have one for my XJ and it's BEEFY! Getting ready to install their Y-link LA, too. Either Bob or Matt can help you out.

I run the Nth and the install was simple and quick, albeit I had the MML/BL already on. Be sure to LOCK-TITE the flat heads as I have had them come loose on me before.
Be sure to measure your rear pinion angle after the install. Should be approx -1 or 2 degrees below the DS. This could put your pinion at an extreme angle to the ground. As much as +16 degrees. IF SO you will need to insure oil is going to get to the pinion bearing. CRITCAL if you drive it. That said:
Stop down at your local ACE/HD and pick up a 1/2" 'street elbow', brass or iron [I like the brass]. Teflon tape it, remove your 1/2" fill plug and screw in you elbow. Tighten until the elbow is vertical. Fill with oil until it reaches the top of your elbow, screw in your 1/2" plug into the top of the elbow and your set as a DD w a good supply of oil reaching your pinion. Enjoy.

The install is pretty straightforward, plus they come with GREAT instructions.
You already have a BL, so you are all set.
Probably the best single mod I did.
