Ok, I hope everything works out for this. I have been talking to the personnel in Wickenburg in getting in on the Gold Rush Days Parade. It is the second weekend in February (11th and 12th). I will be sending in the application this weekend. I will be up their on Friday. The parade starts at 10 but we need to stage at 8:30. I would recommend coming up early Sat. morning due to the fact that the town basically shuts down for the weekend. I was talking to Chris R. and we were thinking camping out Sat. night and maybe on Sunday we could do some playing in the area. My son went up today and found a spot off of Rincon rd. to camp. I will be posting up more info when I recieve confirmation from the Chamber of Commerce. If anybody has any ideas on other spots to camp please post. Thanks Roger

There's some nice wheeling areas back past the Wickenburg Sportsmans Club.

The RD. starts at McDonalds and heads up the hill to the right. It goes to the Constellation Mine area. There's lots of open camping area back there. I'm not sure about permits and such so you might want to check.

I love a parade. Keep me in mind when the date gets closer. Is there a limit to the number or participants like the Glenadale parade had?

The area that I was talking about camping at is off of Constellation rd. It is called Blue tank rd. I have not done alot of wheelin in the area, so if anybody has any ideas break out. I will check, but I think all that might be needed is a State trust land permit, if I remember correctly their is no signs posted in that area, I will check. Thanks

Roger; I know the area well. I've wanted to lead a group up the old highway 74 from upper Castle Hot Springs Rd. to the Wickenburg Sportsmans Club for quite a while. It's not really rock crawling, but more of a scenic run.

I love the gold rush days parade. I grew up in wickenburg so ill definately be up in town around then. Count me in for any runs. Some day we should get the VJC in the parade to show jeep force vs the sherrifs posse jeeps that are usually in it. As for watching the parade. Mclennan school has a large grassy area that has an announcer right there for those that like to listen. Its easier than by the chamber where what seems 90% of the town likes to pack into :O

Tha would be fun the parade and the run from castle hot springs. Gold rush days are lots of fun. I would be great to be a participant, not just a spectator.

For those interested in Rock Crawling, I know of a couple trails in the area... :D 'course, it would probably be best to run them AFTER the parade... :eek:

Still hoping to make it up, although if I do I'll be leaving Gilbert at 0-dark-thirty Satruday morning in order to make the parade staging.

Glad to see we have some that want to camp. Me and my son will be going up one weekend this month to check out camp spots. It looks like we will be trying to find a place out on constellation rd. That would be the easiest place to go, with traffic being as bad as it is. We can just go up the river to Rincon rd. to blue tank rd. I will keep everybody up to date. Thanks

Its a great area Jamie, it has LOTS of history and scenery. I cant wait :)

Shauna and I use to load the XJ up and just drive into the Bradshaws looking to get lost for a day or 3. Sometimes just when we thought we were lost, BOOM we would poop out on a paved road or in Presscott :eek: :)

Gawd I love the Bradshaws.

Knowing my luck Bill... and it's mostly bad... I'd end up driving off a cliff or down a mineshaft or something.

There is one trail I do want to do and it's the back way into Bagdad from just north of Congress some time. I'm sure it would take a better part of the day if not overnight.

growing up in wickenburg after i started driving i pretty much always wheeled alone. Granted that was in a stock toyota tacoma. Didnt do much but wash hoppin though even though there are some scarier spots.

Me and Lee and his son at 9am. We went out and found a camp spot. Hopefully it will not be in use on the parade weekend. Afterwards we just went out and checked out the area not anything hard. I will be going up to Wickenburg either on that Thursday night or Friday morning to stake out the camp spot.
I would appreciate it if everyone that is planning on coming up to pm me their phone no. or call me with it. So if when I get up their and have to pick a alternative spot I will be able to make contact with everyone.

I'm sure it'll qualify for the parade, (unless it leaks allot...) but I'm not sure about the runs...

The more the better. The sign up sheet is on the old site. As far as the trails we have no set ones as of yet. KittyKitty455 said he would show us some trails.

Like I said earlier I will be up there either Thursday or Friday. We will be camping off of Constellation rd. That is the road just before the McDonalds. The camp spot is on the right side of the road just past the end of the asphalt.
If I get up there and that spot is taken I will find another one, so I will need to be able to contact everyone that is camping. If everyone could please call me or E-mail me at 1eagle@outdrs.net to confirm who will be camping on Sat. night. Thanks

Just received more information on the Parade.

Parade starts at 10am, Stage at 9am.

Staging area will be at Country Club Dr. and Wickenburg Wy.

To get their, when you get in to Wickenburg go through the first light, under the railroad tracks and go on through town. You will pass the Rancher Bar, Randy's Auto and the Sunshine Plaza. Country Club Dr. will be on the right side.
Like I said earlier if you are coming up on Sat. morning I would get their before7am. due to traffic. If you get up their real early you can come out to the camp site. We will be off of Constellation rd. at the end of the pavement. Constellation rd. is the road just before the McDonalds. Turn right on Constellation rd and just follow it past the Rodeo grounds. We will be on the east side, you will have to go through a metal gate. Make sure you bring breakfast for everyone:D

There's actually a couple of trails we'll be running that I would consider "Threshold" trails. Been a while since I ran them, but if there are a few of you who are up for it, I'd be more than happy to turn you loose on them.The "Threshold" runs that Bill's planning are beyond the capability of my Jeep (see my sig). I don't know if I can get to Wickenburg in time for the parade on Saturday morning, so is anyone up for some "Scenic" runs after the parade on Saturday or Sunday?

I belive there will be something for EVERY-ONE. Just show up Saturday and lets wheel. I may be down for whatever, but you could bet your last dollar that I aint gonna be in a wash all day balancing my Jeep :) I want to get out and cover some trail too. ;)
