The one thing missing here is the history of the first Jeep...mfgr'd by Bantam. If you do a search of Bantam, I'm sure you'll find some info.
Also, during WWII, Willy's and Ford made Jeeps...as did Bantam (though not in great numbers), and GM also...but I think that was later. Not clear on that stuff.

Update
Just got off the phone with the shop and the outcome was not good. I
have replaced the O2 sensor the coolant temp. sensor and the Oil
pressure sending unit as well as the fuel filter. after doing that I
was expecting the shop to tell me either the fuel pump or the cat.
well it is the ECM! The ECM always thinks the coolant temp. sensor is
cold so it runs the engine rich which in turn may contaminate the O2
sensor. Soooo an new ECM is going to run around $400. I called a Junk
yard they said $150 (no warranty for electrical products but will
exchange for same or equal value).
Wondering if I could get some help.
Any advice for what the next step is or should be?

Well Big-O followed through with replacing my rims today. The owner
of the store on AZ Ave in Chandler seems to be a nice guy. He
apologized for the mistake (even though it was the previous owner
fault). And had the guys in the shop bump my Jeep up in the waiting
order. They even put chrome covered stems on it (I hate chrome).
As I bounced away, I was wondering if an inch difference in rim size
would make in difference in ride. I got home and decided to check the
pressure, 38psi. They must have thought I was pulling a trailer or
something. I lowered it back down to my usuall 26psi and everything
seems to be better.

OOPS! Major brain cramp!
The TRR are having a camping/run to Turkey Creek
this weekend! I've been pressured into going by an eight
year old who did Chiva Falls last weekend.
I'm hoping maybe someone else (Jason?) can take over
and lead the run. I know someone here in Tucson will
do it as it is a popular run.
Sorry about dropping out like this. Maybe next time.
If you still need directions let me know before Friday.

That's a great deal. I'd snap them up, but I need wheels with less
backspacing, more like the 2-3-inch range to get my 36s away from my
springs. Great deal, though.

Does anyone know where to get rims with custom backspacing? I also
need a 3" backspacing on a 15x10.
Thanks.

That's the reason! My yard died immediately after laying sod.

Subject: FS/OT
Sorry to add to the rash of off-topic posts this week... I know there are a
bunch of members with large dogs, so I'm offering it here first. I've got a
wire dog cage, for animals up to 70 lbs. Unfortunately, my shepherd got a
little larger than I had imagined she would, and I need to buy the largest
one available. First 15 bucks gets the cage. It comes with the standard
black plastic tray for the floor of the cage. The cage also breaks down
quickly and easily. If anyone happens to have that pet divider for a TJ they
wanna get rid of (heh, yeah right), I'd be willing to give up the cage and
cash...

Your dog IS a Jeep dog right ?
I don't see a problem.

TIA

Hi members in the Tucson area! My wife and I are
coming down there March 7th and 8th, I have some work
to do down there. We are going to go out to dinner on
the 7th, and were wondering if any members had a good
suggestion for a resturant and to see if they wanted
to meet for some drinks after dinner, and hang out.
Any suggestions for dinner would be great, we like
everything from chinese, italian, bbq, almost
anything!

Subject: Big-O followed thru
