Trail markers. Interesting idea. Weld a piece of plate to an old 2 piece
model 20 axle (without the flange), stick the sticker to the plate, and pound
the sucker into the ground. Could be a bit of an eye-sore though. But a
cool idea in any case. Markers for jamborees is a good idea. Use the same
axle idea. I've got two I could donate! ;-)

Mike,
That seems like a reasonable price to have your new "Axle" delivered. Insure
that the "seals" are smooth and uncluttered with foreign material, and make
sure that you use a heavy "press" to keep that "axle" straight. To keep that
"Axle" alive, use liberal amounts of "Axle gear oil" until you have well
established "gear meshing". Hope this helps in your Jeep related "Axle swap".

Hi gang!
My wife sent this to me today. She is a Jeeper at heart and very much enjoys the out of doors, as do I. I thought you all might get a kick out of this......as I read through it, thoughts of the tree huggers at the land use meetings came to mind. The more I read, the more I could see them saying this to each other. I'm sure many of these comments were not made by tree huggers, since they would rather see the forest locked up for no one to use.
Anyway....I hope it brings chuckle to your average (boring?) day.
Stu
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are actual comments left last year on
Forest Service registration sheets and comment cards by backpackers
completing wilderness camping trips:
"A small deer came into my camp and stole my bag of pickles. Is there
a way I can get reimbursed? Please call."
"Escalators would help on steep uphill sections."
"Instead of a permit system or regulations, the Forest Service needs
to reduce worldwide population growth to limit the number of visitors to
wilderness."
"Trails need to be wider so people can walk while holding hands."
"Ban walking sticks in wilderness. Hikers that use walking sticks are
more likely to chase animals."
"All the mile markers are missing this year."
"Found a smoldering cigarette left by a horse."
"Trails need to be reconstructed. Please avoid building trails that
go uphill."
"Too many bugs and leeches and spiders and spider webs. Please spray
the wilderness to rid the area of these pests."
"Please pave the trails so they can be plowed of snow in the winter."
"Chairlifts need to be in some places so that we can get to wonderful
views without having to hike to them."
"The coyotes made too much noise last night and kept me awake. Please
eradicate these annoying animals."
"Reflectors need to be placed on trees every 50 feet so people can
hike at night with flashlights."
"Need more signs to keep area pristine."
"A McDonald's would be nice at the trailhead."
"The places where trails do not exist are not well marked."
"Too many rocks in the mountains."

Full floading rear axle with hubs ....................$632.00 (optional)
Being able to tow your Jeep home when it is broke instead of listening to a

Subject: Re: TR - Bartlett Lake rollover -- part 2 - the roll
Agreed, this weekend I and a few others learned the importance of seatbelts.. Bronco Bill and I were out camping at Table mesa this weekend, celebrating his birthday.. We were out on a winding dirt road, to our left was a cliff..Going about 15 miles an hour, I figured there was no danger..Going around a right hand turn it was more tight than bill had anticipated..He turned quick right and quickly over corrected left.. At that point he hit the brakes and we skidded to a stop..We stopped with just enough time to hear Bill say "Here we go." Those words will haunt me forever..Bill the driver, Me the front passenger, Pat behind me and Brandon behind bill.. Bill and Brandon wore seatbelts..I personaly remember two complete rolls..At that point I was ejected from the vehicle..I must have been unconcious for a second because when I sat up the Bronco was at the bottom of the cliff.. Pat was about 15 feet above me on the hill, I heard him move.. The firstSOunds I heard were of Bill screaming " Brandon wake up, oh god wake the F*** up, Damnit Brandon wake UP." I was not going down the hill.. I walked best I could up the mountain to the rd.. I pu;led Pat with me.. As we hit the rd Pat collapsed due to an injured right leg..Without a word to Bill I picked up pat and leaned him on my left shoulder..To mark the spot I told pat to take his extra jacket off and place it n the middle of th rd. We started walking.. My right knee was in pain as well as my Sternum..Everything from my pectorals and up was injured.. We walked to the closest camp fire which Iestimated about 2 miles away. We approached the camp and proceeded to explain the incident.. These guys were great..I left Pat at the camp thinking his injuries were much worse than mine.. It took about twenty minutes in the trucks that we took to reach the accident site.. I jumped out and raced down the hill to the Bronco.. Whe I arrived I saw Brandon in the bck seat laid flat on his back with Blood coveing his head neck and shoulders.. Not to mention the spots all over the Bronco.. He and Bill had stayed in the truck, Bill walking away uninjured, a few scrapes and bruises.. Brandon being taller than all of us, on the way down repeated ly hit his head on the roll bar..( not Cage ) This resulted in a 6 inch laceration on the top of his head and 3 inch laceration from the bridge of his nose up..NOT a pretty sight..The guys we brought back had gotton ahold of and were ready to help out anyother way they could..They helped treat brandon and keep him awake. About this time My shoulders quit working and it became hard to breathe.. My neck started hurting, and I became increasingly tired.. I stood around and joked as much as I could..The helicopter could not find a place to land close so about 20 yards away they had rescuers jump out of the helicopter.. They arrived and took over with brandon.. I had been informed that pat was already on his way to the hospital..We estimate that the rollover occured about 10 Pm on saturday..Brandon and I were not air lifted out until about 4. am.. No complaints as we were in a very tough area to do anything..As with the other accident this weekend with 2 people needing air evac, they had to use 2 helicopters.. As we hit the hospital ( John C Lincoln on Northern ) I was informed that Brandon had fractured his skull along with the lacerations.. Hey Pete
Went down that road last year with my Jeep and motorhome, already had a hitch on motorhome.I bought a tow bar from Quailty Bumper it came with latches on front bumper for quick disconnect I bought a expensive one because it was very light weight and swung away and remained on the motorhome instead of Jeep $900. You can get one much cheaper you will also need some electrical work done (a transistor installed) so you can run tailights from tow vehicle to your Jeep. Cost $50.00 including labor.
good luck Greg

Well I picked up something on the way home from work tonight. It's
called Permatex High Strength Threadlocker Red Automotive Grade. I
hope it's not too strong. The guy at the store said that some other
guy had bought a used car that had this locktight on the wheel lug
nuts and they could not get them off, even with an impact gun.
In any case, I'll use it sparingly.
I wonder if anyone has experienced a track bar coming loose on them
and what the effect was.

The paraqmedics fearing I had boken my neck had c-spined me along with brandon just to be safe.. As I was X-rayed I was infirmed of everybodies status.. Brandon was bing admitted to ICU, Bill had not gone to the hospital his injuries imcluded a brused ego and a busted truck, Pat had possibly ton ligaments in his right knww, they have to wait till the swelling goes down to be sure.. I was very lucky as well.. Despite being thrown from the truck and very severe pain I had not broken a thing..( Drink MILK ) ha ha.. anyway I am just brused and unable to use my shoudlers.. My neck is getting movement back and the viciden is taking care of me..Brandon is going to be ok.. You may have seen the cover on the news, yet they kind of butchered it slightly.. Just my thoughts on the situation..I am glad I did not have me seatbelt on, I would be crushed. ( going on the condition of the passenger side of the trcuk..) Pat did have his seatbelt on yet was ejected regardless..I give Bill props on his quick thinking and his ability to be Brandons gaurdian angel as we got help..I am convinced that the 7-8 rolls the truck did that we are extremely lucky to be alive..Not just the rolls, but the cliff too. They estimated about 200 yards down..
I can guarantee you My seatbelt will be on when off rd from now on..It does not matter your speed or the experience of the driver.. It saved Brandons life and possibly Bills.. If Bills truck did not have a roll bar, Brandon would not be with us..Please take the extra time and put the seatbelt on.. 10 extra seconds is worth a lifetime of joy..

Greg

Can you say permanent marker? Then they'd say Arizona.

If anyone is interested, I have 200 decals without the Arizona printed on them. Printers mistake and they are reprinting them for me. They didn't want these returned so if anyone can think of a good use for them, please let me know.

Greg
Sorry it is cut short, but it hurts to type..
