Subject: Adjustable track bar disassembly question

Has anyone had any experience rebuilding an adjustable track bar? I
bought a replacement end for mine because it was shot, but when I
disconnected the bar (Rancho) from the Jeep and tried to unscrew the
the end piece, it doesn't budge. It's in solid. Could be rusted or
maybe there is a method to removing it.
Anyone done this and had to solve this problem?

Thanks,
Larry

I went with a 95 YJ. Excelent Shape.
The only hting I am not Totally excited about is the

know I can still work wiht it with a cat back sys, and
headers, and Maybe ignition work too.
I am still very happy with my choice, and thanks to

looking at suspensions first. I am sure I will be

I'm not sure how the Rancho is set up, but I've replaced the heim on my
front RE bar and it was easy. What type of end does it have??

Subject: Wrenching Party on 3/4!

All;

I recently asked for help installing a RE lift kit on my '01 TJ. I received
quite a few replies offering assistance, so we decided to make it a
wrenching party! You're invited to come help out, watch, learn, socialize,
and/or get advice and help. Larry Turnquist has offered to use his garage
and equipment, with Mike Baney and Mike Anderson bringing a 1/2" drill and
bits needed for the lift and track bar. Chris Krieg and Dan Weed also
offered assistance and plan to attend. I'll provide some suds, sodas, and
pizza as bribery to those attending (please drink responsible).

We'll be getting an early start next Sunday (3/4) at 8:00am at Larry T's.
Larry lives in NE Mesa, 1/2 mile north of Power and McKellips on the right
side is a street named Menlo. The fourth house in on the right side is 6845.
Two sets of gates at the street into the driveway, light brown house. If you
get lost, my cell # is 602-300-3150. Larry says there's "a little test area
right down the street from the house, it
is a requirement of the wrenching party to go climb this hill."

To help us get an idea of how many will be there, please send me an Email if
you think you'll attend. However, come on out any time during the day even
if you didn't RSVP.

Hope to see you there!

I cant believe it but my brother has decided to turn lose of his 67 CJ5. He
is the second owner on this rare, mostly original Jeep. Other than loc-rites,
33X12.5 BFG Mud Terrain tires, tube bumpers with a spare tire rack, a full
roll cage and a 3" Rancho lift it is totally stock. It has the 225 Buick V6,
3 speed transmission, and Dana 18 transfer case. The rear axle is a Dana 44,
the front a Dana 27. It has a fairly new best top full top and a Bikini top
that mounts to the cage to allow the windshield to be folded down as well as
a custom solid taunaua cover. It is the cleanest vintage Jeep you will ever
see. He is asking $5000 and is fairly firm on the price, but may consider
trading for a CJ7 of equal value.

If you are interested I will send you a few pictures of it in action.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Doug,
My track bar has that same kind of end, I think. The end doesn't want
to unscrew from the bar, though. The threads could be frozen. I tried
liquid wrench, heat torch, lots of leverage, ... no luck.

Hi all.....well, I got the 4 speed out....and all the associated clutch stuff....and have the TH350 ready to go in....my problem is, I don't have a tranny jack and I can't get the auto to sit on my floor jack as well as the other on did.....I went to harbor freight and looked at their adapters but $50.00 is a little pricey for me right now, especially for something that I would use as infrequently as that....sooooooo.....would there happen to be anyone in Mesa who has a tranny jack they could let me borrow for a couple of hours tomorrow????

also...since I had everything apart, I decided to go ahead and install the block hugger headers and get my exhaust rerouted....the driver side went on great, but the passenger side doesn't "hug" the block enough and it won't fit between the frame and the engine....has anybody else out there experienced this????....how did you fix it???.....any suggestions?????

sorry this is so long, but I could really use the help.....thanx in advance.....

TJ,
hey again. when i did my tranny swap, i rented a tranny jack from Beavins Rentals. they are in Mesa on Extension just north of Broadway. the tranny jack youd need is $15 a day but im pretty sure they are closed on Sundays. their number is 969 7184. ive been helping a friend do some work on his landcruiser this weekend. he didnt want to pay to get a tranny jack so i tried using a come-a-long. it works really good. it would be even better if he had a full cage. he does have a hard top so i ran the cable over the roof and into both doors. i hung the pulley through the floor where the shifters go. then i put a ratchet strap around the tranny and hooked the pulley up to the strap andjust cranked the tranny and t-case up. i could get the tranny up and in place without a jack in about five minutes by myself. it might be worth a try for you if you have a full cage. just attach it to the front hoop. we did crease his hardtop on the sides with the cable. i guess if we would have padded the cable it would never have happened but he didnt care and its really not noticable. anyways hope this helps. i cant help ya with the headers.

Subject: So I come out of the Hobby Store Yesterday to find Two Police Officers Looking at my Jeep

So here I am... innocently walking out of the Hobby Store (purchasing more
parts for my R/C Airplane) to find two Gilbert Police officers standing next
to my Jeep. As I walk across the parking lot, I see them looking into,
under and all over the Jeep. I'm thinking hmmmmm.... did I do something
wrong or is something not legal about my Jeep (missing side marker lights
due to the flat fender conversion maybe?). I approach my Jeep....

Officer:
"Is this your Jeep"

Me:
"Yes sir, it is"

Officer:
"This is the largest Jeep I've ever seen outside a magazine"

Me:
(Whew.... I didn't do anything wrong, internal grin, keep a straight face
and don't smile Joe)
"Mods like this are fairly common in the club I belong to... we do allot of
rock crawling"

Officer:
"Who did all this work?"

Me:
"I did"

Officer:
"Incredible..."

Me:
"Thanks"

The conversation continued for about 15 minutes with both officers pelting
me with questions concerning modifications on the Jeep. During the
conversation, three other people walked over and started looking at my
Jeep...

Boy... you just gotta LOVE driving a Jeep!!!

he eventually did due to a traffic light. I hope that if any one knows of

I wouldn't wait to report it. Of course the police will know who it was within minutes by looking up the plate but unless you can identify the driver they cant do a thing. You can also, for a fee write to the state dmv and get the records for that plate. I am up close to that area alot in the week. I will watch for it.
