Stu,
I am new to the group, abt 6 months, and I don't know where most of
these trails are except for Box Canyon, but I agree with you whole
heartedly about not posting directions. I do plan to run them all, or at
least the ones my rig is capable of at sometime. I don't plan on trying
the more difficult ones without someone along who knows the trail. The
least advertised to the unwashed these trails remain the better!

OK,
I have a Dilemma,
I am buying a Jeep This Weekend, I am torn between, a
83 CJ5, 6cyl, Very Ggood Condition, Rhino lined, but
pretty stock, new clutch, hubs, not raised, and 31
inch tires. 130K miles
Or
92 Wrangler, 4cyl, Totally stock 30 inch tires. 99k
miles
Both are about the same price ..
I am torn because I want the jeep I buy to be both my
daily driver and my off road Jeep too. I have been
looking around and see that there alot more "upgrades"
and such for the YJ, my problem is with the 4cyl. Does
anyone know how much it would cost to put in a 6CYL,
or what it would take? I am already looking at a coil
over suspension for the YJ, Or a 2 inch lift for the
CJ. I know I will also have to buy larger tires and
rims for either one. But, Iam not sure which one would
be the wiser choice for me?
I am not entirely new to four wheelin and have played
with jeeps before, just never owned one.
I just don't want to make a wrong choice here. Oh,
yeah the CJ neeeds a Cat converter, it was taken off.
If anyone or everyone can help me make this decesion a
littel less stressful on me I would appreciate it.
If you really want to Help me and would like to talk
to me Personally , look in my Member profile and call
me I would love to talk to anyone with some insight.

Yes...it's still there. In fact, Raw Deal looks like a trash heap now.
There's garbage and junk everywhere.
As to being concerned about the MC not being reported stolen, just take some

Sounds like we need a clean up run on RD.

James,
If I were caught in your dilemma, I think that I would go for the 92. I am an avid CJ
owner, but as you pointed out, Wrangler parts are more available. I would remove the 4
cylinder and drop in a nice fuel injected V-8. This type of conversion will cost you in
the ball park of 7K if you do it right and not be cheap about it. I vote to go with the
newer vehicle as usually there is less wear, less dry rot, etc... on the rest of the
vehicle. Good luck.

I was hoping that we could plan some runs for spring break, during

Subject: Question for Ross or Bill (The Full width Guys)
I am not getting the Dana Sixty, I am actually picking a Corporate 14
tomorrow, complete drum to drum, I figured that it was stronger and
the parts are cheaper. SO now I am looking for 44 or a 10 bolt front
from a chevy so that the pumpkin is on the right side. Which in your
opinion is the better choice, my friend (with the 14 bolt) is telling
me that the only thing weaker on a 10 bolt is the 3/8" thick axle
tube and that he is going with a 10 bolt on his Custom scout( We are
going to start building it in March, Will put a write up on my site)
because the axles on the 10 bolt are stronger, I don't know if I will
be running 38's I guess it all depends on How big a goofy it looks
with 31's (just Kidding), I can't find a sixty front for any amount I
can afford. As a result for anyone else that reads this, he has a
Dana Sixty 30 spline axles, full floater don't know the Gear Ratio,
that he is willing to part with.

Stu,
I am new to the group, abt 6 months, and I don't know where most of
these trails are except for Box Canyon, but I agree with you whole
heartedly about not posting directions.

There's garbage and junk everywhere.
As to being concerned about the MC not being reported stolen, just take some

James,
If I were caught in your dilemma, I think that I would go for the 92. I am an avid CJ
owner, but as you pointed out, Wrangler parts are more available. I would remove the 4
cylinder and drop in a nice fuel injected V-8. This type of conversion will cost you in
the ball park of 7K if you do it right and not be cheap about it. I vote to go with the
newer vehicle as usually there is less wear, less dry rot, etc... on the rest of the
vehicle. Good luck.

Subject: Spring break Mar12-18; Runs
I was hoping that we could plan some runs for spring break, during
the week March 12-18. Maybe that would be a good time to plan some
cleanup of some of them. I would be game for a couple of days in this
time period. Maybe some of the people that "work" for a living can
play hookie and bring their kids. It would be great for the kids to
help cleanup and have some fun.
Let's kick it around a bit and do it.

Joey K,
When my Converter plugged up, my TJ lost power, didn't want to start
easy, and would die at traffic lights. Also my gas mileage went to crap!
I can't remember what the code on the engine light was now, but changed
converter and sensors and away she went better than ever. My converter
sounded like it had marbles in it also. If nothing else works Joey, you
might check it out.

I have a friend that works for a salvage yard that just got a 89 YJ
in. It has factory hardtop, 4 cyl. and 89k miles. It was hit in the
front (w/s is bad but the frame is good) and everything else is in
good shape. Call him if interested. Rob - 602-268-8800.

Has anyone out there had any experience with the shop 'Dunbar

advise (other that dumping my Ford) would be appreciated!

I think Dion had a complaint back in December. Something about a re-arch job that sagged again after a few weeks.
They told him afterwards that he should have bought their add-a-leaf with that re-arch. Cant remember if there was a happy ending though.

Those are great looking bumpers. They seem to conform well to shape of the body to retain your approach and departure angles. Just curious, why didn't you make the front bumper 'winchable'? You know you will want one some day. ;-)
