days off are thursday, friday, and sundays, so I do most of my

Assuming both are a good deal (and you can't buy both),
I'd go with a 4.0 liter, 6 cyl, YJ Wrangler vice an 83 CJ-5.
Reasons for YJ over CJ: Much better daily driver. A little longer and wider.
Factory FUEL INJECTION! Good t-case with 2.72 gears.
More easy bolt-on options to add on all the way to extreme level.
Marty S.
47 CJ-2A
94 ZJ (I long ago traded my YJ for the ZJ to fit more people/junk)
P.S. A factory hard top is nice to have. You can always take it off for
open top jeepin', but they are expensive to buy later.

Subject: RE: trail reports
Rob,
Very few of the trails, such as Broken Arrow, can be accessed by turning at
the proper highway intersection and simply following the tar road until the
trail starts.
Many of the local area trails run in washes and such that can begin miles
from a highway and dozens of turns and forks from where you start. At that
point, the last valid reference is something like "turn left at the 3 arm
Cactus....the trail begins in 100 yards", which usually doesn't help much.
:) It is not at all easy to provide directions to these trails segments
that are located way back in the boonies as are so many of them.
Also, I believe there is a reluctance among many serious off-roaders to
publicly post directions to the trails that are near and dear to them. This
most likely stems from bad experiences where someone has done this and the
popularity of the trail boomed to the point where it was closed down by the
responsbile land management agency. The book published by Scott (forget his
last name) that covered a number of local trails resulted in this
happening....several of those trails are no longer open due to the heavy use
and associated garbage dumping, refrigarator disposal, and 4 tons of dirty
baby diapers and beer cans per square mile. I've heard Scott comment that
he regretted actually releasing the book, if my memory and ears served me
correctly.
I could be very wrong, but I don't think I am too far off in my gestimation.
I have swapped trail files with other Jeepers that I have come to know on
the trails. I feel more confident that it will be used in the manner in
which I intended it to be used rather than publishing it on the internet and
seeing a bunch of folks NOT practicing Tread Lightly on the trail the next
time I am out there.
Your mileage may vary.

Daren,
I run a 350 in my CJ2A. I originally ran a replacement 3 core from a 65
mustang v8, but had to have the inlet and out lets moved around. I went with
it because it is the perfect size to fit behind my grill. It didn't really
cool good enough for the summer heat so I had one built to the mustang specs
but with 4 cores. It works great. You could also check with some of the speed
shops, like Lopers. They stock aluminum radiators in several sizes. I can
give you this advice, a few extra dollars now will save you lots of
aggravation later, but I guess that fits everything when it comes to Jeeps!
Don't scrim on the radiator with our 120* summer heat.

Scott,
I don't have a good reference to pass along as to where to get them, but I was curious as to what you are attaching the shoulder harness straps to.

I was looking at the trail reports, getting kind of bored of the same
trails I usually run, so I want to venture out and try new trails.
Looking in the trail report, most do not have the "How to get there"
section filled out. I want to run 2.5 to 3.5 trails, but don't have
directions to most those listed. Are there any volunteers that can
help us get that stuff filled out? For the webmasters, what can we do
to help you get that filled out? I will do what I can to help you. My
days off are thursday, friday, and sundays, so I do most of my
wheeling thursday or friday. If anyone is off those days and wants to
hit some trails in the florence and four peaks areas let me know.
Otherwise I go out with my buddy and have to stick to wimpy trails
with his stock dodge truck!!! -Rob

In the last couple of days several of us have been passing around track
files for GPS. Mike this is a question for you is there a way for us to post
track files of the runs to the web page that others could download? BTW you
have done a great job on the club pages and I thank you. It would be an easy
way to find runs that you have not been on. I have tracks for FR42, both
Terminators, Raw Deal, Lower Woodpecker, Martinez Cabin and Canyon, Bumble
Bee Wash, I am sure others have many more.

If people want to volunteer to pick a trail they are familiar with

My last class on Fridays gets over at 9:30AM, so lets see, getting
home, packing a chest..... I could be good to go by 11:00AM on
Fridays. Not this one though I have plans. Let me know.
Some of the points brought up about, dumping, hard to descibe
directions and over use are good ones.
Also, I wanted to second the comment about Mike, at-a-boy (good job).

Daren,
I run a 350 in my CJ2A.
