im not sure about your setup, but on mine you have to take the t-case off of the adapter before you can disconnect the adapter from the tranny. that is with the T18/D20 combo. im figuring you have the D20. if i were you id just take off the t-case and leave the adapter on the tranny when you take it in to the shop. it will be a little easier to move around this way especially if youre loading it in a truck by yourself.

Subject: Help! FSJ T18 shifter problem
Hey all--
The shifter on my '78 Chero's T18 somehow fell out of the channels on
the shift rods today. Ever since I've had this jeep it's had
problems getting into and mostly out of reverse. I was backing out
of the driveway and now it's stuck in reverse.
I pulled the shifter off and it looks like the leftmost shift rod
(presumably for reverse) is pushed back but the 3/4 (center rod) and
1/2 (right rod) are in the correct location. I can't seem to move
the leftmost shift rod back into position. The Chero's on level
ground, but even with the clutch in I still can not move the shift
rod.
Any ideas on how I can get this shift rod back into place? Normally
I would be able to get the shifter back into the slots but because
the reverse rod has the big button (I think it's spring loaded ...
perhaps for the reverse lights?) I can not get any tool in there to
move the rod forward.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well... The AZLR4WDC did its maintenance run on the Mud Springs trail
yesterday. The big hill was not too bad, but erosion from vehicles with
open differentials and Mother Nature are changing the challenges. There
is a washout on an offcamber section a mile or so after the big hill
that, with a few more storms, will probably be extremely dangerous and
might be impossible to cross. We had a FS Bronco almost lose it there.
We had to winch both ends of the truck back on the road. We were not
equipped to deal with the washout on the trip. It will probably take an
overnighter to fix it. The wash crossing near the cabin was flowing
pretty good and will become more challenging as a result.
It was a great trip. We were on the trail for almost 12 hours.
I will be posting pictures shortly.

normally a hole in the sidewall (no matter what size) is unrepairable. The
sidewall will flex too much for a plug to stay in....but you can do a
temporary fix on it...I used a twig and twine to fix a hole about that size
in my sidewall once...if you have roadhazard on your tires they will replace

My heater problem is in a 93yj. I have maunually moved all the valves and
air controls but still no luck. I used to have my shifter cover off and
that worked real well! Noisy and not good in summer though...

Nick....do the hoses that lead back to the heater even begin to get warm?
(when you have the flow controls open for the heater that is)

normally a hole in the sidewall (no matter what size) is unrepairable. The
sidewall will flex too much for a plug to stay in....but you can do a
temporary fix on it...I used a twig and twine to fix a hole about that size
in my sidewall once...if you have roadhazard on your tires they will replace
it for ya

Subject: Equal length axles?????
Now that the TJ is finally getting built into a respectable
trail rig and I will probably start taking it on tougher trails, it
is time to start thinking about trail spares. Just looking at the
D44 rear axle housing, it woul appear that the axles are of equal
length, is this in fact the case??
Also, what U-joints does the rear driveline use (factory D44
w/trac-loc)?
TIA

Yep,
Appetizer had an appetite this afternoon! A little granite took a
bite of rubber. I have a feeling the DC's are going to be a little
hard to come by.
Anyone know where I can get a Dick Cepek 31x10.5R15 cheeply?
