If this is true, then I need to find a bathroom, I'm gonna puke from
the following quotes, in particular order:

1) "Liberty's independent front suspension"
2) "electronic traction control will boost handling"

Is this the beginning of the end?

I second that. If the MDA is not willing to accept it I know the charity my
mother works for would be willing to. She works for casa, they work to help
those that have been sexually and physically abused as well as going into
schools to educate children on how to avoid it, who to talk with if it
happens and helps those that have been abused get help. They are opening
centers across the valley at local police stations so that specialists that
will be sensative to the feelings of rape victims can perform the necessary
examinations as well as identify false claims. If MDA doesn't want the
money casa would openly accept it. If there is any interest in switching
and hodlig the event please let me know and I will get anyone the name and
number of the right person to contact.

I posted a poll asking if anyone is going and most of the replies so
far indicate that most of us didn't or don't know much about the
gathering and runs. What I do know is that it's an annual event and
this is the 39th year they've had it. Each year it attracts over
1,000 4x4's (mostly Jeeps) and they have runs for all experience
levels. Also, at night, most camp and socialize around campfires and
such. It's around the Salton Sea in California not too far off the
AZ border near Yuma. This year the event is on March 3&4. You can
get more info by checking our the Tierra del Sol San Diego club link
from this page:

http://www.jeepsonly.com//Clubs_and_Associations/By_State/California/

My family and I are going for the first time this year. Truthfully,
we didn't hear about it until last month when I added their link to
the Jeeps Only directory.

If you're there, say hello! We're in a 93 YJ Sahara with an
Earnhardt Jeep tire cover and a chrome 4.0 sticker on the back.
We're from Arizona, although temporarily transplanted in SoCal, and
love to ride with our native people :-)

While I agree that those who are responsible wheelers should not be punished
for the stupid folks. We are ..
Then it should be our responsinbility to improve the situation while we are
out there. I am willing to take license # and picture of people destroying
the land.
I was taught at a very early age to take care of the land and that it will
care for you in the end. IT's sad that most people only look out for
themselves and what they can take.
I have a deep feeling for the Coves for lots of reasons. One being Married
there and the other is it's like where my father and I used to go. IT reminds
me of family that is long been gone. If it were possible I would be out there
more cleaning, and planting and general maintance of that land.
I don't think every one should be punished but we are a whole need to start
getting those who do destroy punished. We meaning BLM and all Groups
involved get together and set up guidelines for use and protection.
I will be the first to volunteer to be on a board and to do the work that
needs to be done. This country belongs to everyone and everyone should
jointly make the decisions .
I wish I could go to this meeting Thrusday and speak but I have to work so I
will have to have Len speak for me.
There are many ways to take care of the assholes that don't care. But We need
to work together and educate and teach and police for the better of the
land.
Maybe making patrols of the areas in question at all hours and us watching
others and filming and taking information down and turning it in will help
but everyone have be involved. You can't just look the other way any more.
That's how things got to this point.
I will not Loose something I enjoy because of others stupidity... I WIll be
involved .

Well I will come down off my soapbox now.

was talking about his old man. They both work out of
Hopper Automotive which I believe was started by young
Jimmy's grandfather. Theyre good guys.

I would be happy to help, maybe with Advertisement or something,
Could be a judge. I have only been wheeling for about a year and a
Half and think that this would be a great way to pick up some
pointers. I would love to be a part of it. If there is an easier route
maybe even compete. I think that having a Friendly competition with
mild to wild rigs is something that would get more people interested.
And give us a chance to reach poeple with Land closure information
and get them involved as well. Who knows. But if you guys need
advertisement and some graphics and stuff, Let me know. If we are
going to do, we should put together a list of people who are going to
be involved with the planning process, judges and the like. E-mail
addresses and Phone numbers. I am in, here is mine

oh yeah! since we had our baby, my wife has been begging to go
fourwheeling, so we are going to be planning a trip through
Charouleau Gap (her favorite Trail) sometime this month if anybody is
interested.

Just a warning...
The Tucson Rough Riders will be going through
the Gap Feb.18th. It is a work run and a lot of the
club members show up for the work runs.
Everyone is welcome to come along and help of course.
This is the best way to get involved. You can also meet
the main people who know about ALL the Land issues.
I look forward to hearing from some of you Tucson AZVJC
people that enjoy using this trail. :-)

That would involve serious miles of fencing. Considering people keep

take the same fencing to shut it down.....Hmmm...

Oops, forgot that replies go to sender and not list.. Sorry Jason, you get
this twice.

I called them and setup an appointment to check if the bolt can be extracted
without removing the engine which could run upwards of $600..

On the '96 XJ passenger side there is about 6 inches to work in. What I was
thinking is maybe the passenger side front tire and some stuff could be
taken off and work through the wheel well. I dont know if the engine can be
lowered to expose the mount, but if it could be lowered like 3 or so inches
it could be done.

I hope so.. I'd hate to see the engine pulled just to remove one bolt shaft.

I know of an awsome charity that would be glad for any
kind of donation, its the fill-my-pocket orginization
for Mike Baney. I will accept any donation, all will
help!

Seriously, I think it would be a great idea if our
"club" would orginize a Jamboree with local clubs and
do a donation to a totally different orginization.
Wouldn't it be great if we could raise over $20,000
and show MDA up?? Not that I don't like MDA, but they
seam a little snooty for me.

I would be interested in starting it, if anyone else
wants to join and start planning, lets hear from you.
We can set up a date to get together and talk. Would
the "club" be up for it? Like donating $40.00 a
member, and it would include a dinner, advertising,
for the event, maybe some trophy's for ,"best time
through a trail without any damage", "best
articulation", that kind of stuff.

Subject: YJ shackle hanger help

Hello all,

Does anyone know of a way to upgrade my current shackle mounts? I
have seen JKS MFG.'s YJ hangers, but 90 bucks for two chunks of metal
seems a little steep. I am curious if anyone has fabricated these or
used another source to get them. Any and all help is appreciated.

Subject: atlas II

I am looking at getting the atlas II transfer case for my 00" wrangler. I
have two questions. One, is there a slip-yoke eliminator offered? I will be
putting on a 2" spacer on my 4" lift. Will i need a slip yoke eliminator? I
also plan to up grade to 35" tires. Now i have 4.56 ring and pinion with 33"
tires. I have heard that a atlas II will also help with the larger tires
size.(like regearing again) Is that so?

Mine's come on twice in the last two months. Unless your Jeeps running
funny, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Try this: While you're around town driving, drive for a while and turn
the engine off (not while you're driving, but at a stoplight or
somewhere) and start it up again.

If everything's OK, it'll turn off around the third time you turn it
off (you have to have it running at least two minutes). If it stays
on, then there probably is something wrong. If it goes off, and you're
still worried about it, you can take it into the dealer and they can
scan the on board computer to see what it was (the error will clear
after the 20th good start).

At least, that's the info I've found from my research when mine light
came on.

The Atlas tcase has a fixed yoke.... no slip yoke to eliminate but you'll
need at least a new rear driveline.

Sounds like your gearing will be just about right with 35" tires. The Atlas
has either a 3.8 or 4.3 gear reduction in low range so it will certainly
help offroad.

Some times they come on for no reason.Usually you can disconnect the the
battery and the computer will reset itself.
